Adj Asst Prof Karthik Thandapani graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2012 and completed specialist training in Urology at the National University Hospital in 2021. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in 2021 and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Urology, Glasgow) in 2022.
He has a special interest in urologic oncology, with a focus on prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers. Dr Karthik underwent a dedicated one-year high-volume robotic surgery fellowship at the Lister Hospital, UK, where he gained proficiency in robotic-assisted prostatectomy, radical partial nephrectomy, and robotic radical cystectomy.
In addition to cancer care, Dr Karthik is actively involved in the management of benign prostatic diseases. He is among the first few surgeons in Singapore to perform laser enucleation of the prostate, offering advanced minimally invasive options for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Dr. Karthik is also deeply engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
